Not Just Plastic ~ Not Just Beaches

Plastic Free North East and Plastic Free North Tyneside were set up to help anyone on their journey to a lower impact way of life.

Working together to help North Tyneside become a community that doesn’t depend on single use plastics. But as the tag line states, it’s not just plastic and not just beaches.

We are championing the many small actions taken by lots of local people.

We are supporting biodiversity, natural habitats, litter free zones, eco events, eco schools, beautiful beaches, shopping locally, small businesses, community initiatives and social responsibility.

Surfers Against Sewage

Regional Rep & Community Leader

Emmajo is a  Surfers Against Sewage Regional Rep for Whitley Bay and the Plastic Free Community Leader for Whitley Bay, North Shields, Wallsend, Killingworth, Longbenton, Battle Hill, Benton, Valley Ward and Weetslade. Working with the Community Leaders of Tynemouth and Cullercoats, the aim is for a Plastic Free North Tyneside.

“Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is Marine Conservation and Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is grassroots movement tackling plastic pollution and protecting the UK’s coastlines for all to enjoy safely and sustainably”.

Supporting SAS is really important to Emmajo. As a lover of the ocean and the natural world she sees it her human responsibility to help look after the environment that gives her so much enjoyment.

Regular beach cleans, litter picks, fund raising and campaigning are all undertaken locally  to support the amazing wok of SAS.
